The VPI Super Scoutmaster-2 is a premium turntable designed as a hybrid between the Scoutmaster and the HR-X models, offering high-end features such as a dual motor flywheel system controlled by the HR-X synchronous drive system (SDS) power supply for ultra-smooth rotation. It includes a 12-inch clear or black acrylic platter with an inverted bearing for low noise and high precision. The chassis is a sandwiched vinyl-wrapped MDF/steel/MDF construction with a steel center for rigidity and resonance control. The turntable comes equipped with the JMW-9 Signature tonearm featuring a precision uni-pivot bearing, VTA adjustment on the arm base, and removable arm wands for quick cartridge changes. Additional features include a periphery ring clamp and HR-X center weight to reduce warp-induced speed variations, machined aluminum isolation feet, and gold-plated RCA audio connections. The Super Scoutmaster-2 is no longer in production but still supported with upgrades such as the HR-X Mini Feet, 2" aluminum prime platter, and JMW 10 3D tonearm with VTA base. It weighs approximately 101 lbs and measures 22" wide by 14" deep by 9" high. This model has received critical acclaim including the Absolute Sound Editor's Choice Award for its world-class sonic qualities and build quality.
