The Clearaudio Champion Basic turntable is designed as an entry point into the Champion series, offering a resonance-optimized shape with a 30mm thick highly polished acrylic platter. It uses a belt drive with an isolated motor and a hardened steel, bronze-plated inverted bearing. The turntable operates at 33 1/3 and 45 rpm speeds with speed variations of +/-0.02%. It weighs approximately 12 kg (26.4 lbs) including the motor and measures 470 x 390 x 240 mm. The chassis features a single plinth with acrylic cone feet for vibration isolation. The Champion Basic is known for its precise, clear, and detailed sound, presenting music neutrally without editorializing. It comes with a 5-year manufacturer warranty. This model has been discontinued as of 2019 but remains a respected design for audiophiles seeking a high-quality entry-level analog playback system.
