About the YP-D10
The Yamaha YP-D10 is a direct drive turntable produced from 1977 to 1979 in Japan. It features a 12-pole 24-slot DC Hall motor with a large torque of 1.2 kg·cm, and a three-stage drive system combining quartz PLL servo, FG servo, and a heavy aluminum die-cast turntable to ensure stable and precise rotation. The turntable supports speeds of 33 1/3 and 45 RPM with synchronization fluctuations under 0.03% and a rumble noise ratio of 62 dB. It uses an injection molded aluminum turntable and a semi-automatic operating mode. The tonearm is an S-shaped static balance gimbal support arm with an anti-skater roller string counterweight system. Pitch control is ±3%, separately adjustable for each speed. The YP-D10 was designed with Yamaha's Ultimate Refining (UR) method to suppress micro-vibrations and enhance sound quality. It weighs 16 kg and measures 470 x 163 x 378 mm. The unit originally came without a pickup cartridge. It is considered a high-end vintage turntable with a reputation for excellent sound and build quality.
