The VPI Industries Classic 2 Turntable is a premium belt-drive analog record player featuring a solid 2.5" laminated MDF plinth bonded to an 11-gauge steel top plate, providing a rigid, non-resonant chassis for excellent feedback rejection and speed stability. It uses a heavy cast/machined aluminum platter driven by a heavy-duty 600 RPM AC-synchronous motor via a belt and stepped pulley for 33/45 rpm operation. The Classic 2 is fitted with the 10.5" JMW-10.5-series unipivot tonearm in rigid mount, made from 6061 aluminum with a tapered armtube, dropped counterweight, and azimuth adjustability. A key distinguishing feature versus the Classic 1 is the on-the-fly adjustable VTA mechanism, implemented via a calibrated VTA tower/collar at the arm base, allowing precise vertical tracking angle adjustment during playback. Signal wiring exits via VPI's standard Lemo connector and RCA junction box, and the design is voiced for a big, warm, full-bodied yet clean and wide-open sound with deep bass and strong speed stability.
