About the RM40 BCSE
The VMPS RM40 BCSE is a flagship loudspeaker from VMPS, known for its unique design and sonic performance. It features a 40-inch vertical array of four 8-inch neodymium midrange ribbon panels covering 166 Hz to 10 kHz, complemented by two 10-inch woven carbon fiber woofers for bass and midbass frequencies. The speaker includes a free-swinging tweeter extending response up to 25 kHz. The cabinet is constructed with thick MDF panels treated with Soundcoat to reduce panel vibrations, resulting in cleaner sound. Bass management is achieved through dual 10-inch woven carbon fiber megawoofers and passive radiators with tunable mass, allowing precise bass tuning to the listening environment. The RM40 BCSE offers a frequency response from 24 Hz to 25 kHz (-3 dB), a sensitivity around 90-93 dB, and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. Its slim 12.5-inch wide front baffle and symmetrical driver layout provide excellent stereo imaging and a coherent soundstage. The speaker weighs approximately 240 pounds and stands 66 inches tall. It supports bi-amping and includes level controls for midrange and tweeter adjustment. The RM40 BCSE was awarded Best of CES in the High-End Audio category in 2002 and is highly regarded for its transparency, neutrality, and musical naturalness.
