About the TD 160
The Thorens TD 160 is a manual, two-speed belt-drive turntable introduced in 1972. Its suspended sub-chassis is supported by three springs, and it uses a 16-pole AC synchronous motor and a 300 mm, 3.2 kg zinc-alloy platter. The original model was fitted with a TP 16 tonearm. This entry refers to the original TD 160, not later variants such as the TD 160 Mk II or TD 160 Super.
