About the SL-7
The Technics SL-7 is a compact, fully automatic quartz-controlled direct-drive turntable with a linear-tracking tonearm. Its 300 mm die-cast aluminum platter supports 33⅓ and 45 rpm playback, with automatic record-size and speed selection. The dynamically balanced tonearm uses a gimbal suspension and optical tracking control; the unit was designed to operate in different orientations, including vertically when properly mounted. Cartridge configurations varied by market and documentation, with Technics moving-magnet cartridges supplied in some versions.
