About the 1200G
The Technics SL-1200G is a premium manual direct-drive turntable introduced in 2016. Its coreless, ironless motor is designed to eliminate cogging, while the three-layer platter combines brass, die-cast aluminum, and rubber damping. A four-layer cabinet construction and other vibration-control measures contribute to its substantial 18 kg (39.7 lb) mass. The tonearm is a lightweight magnesium, gimbal-suspended universal static-balance design with high-precision bearings. It supports 33 1/3, 45, and 78 rpm playback, electronic pitch adjustment of ±8% or ±16%, a detachable dust cover, and standard RCA outputs with a separate ground terminal. It has no built-in phono preamplifier. Dimensions are approximately 453 × 173 × 372 mm (17 7/8 × 6 7/8 × 14 5/8 inches).
