About the LP5.3
The Simaudio Moon LP5.3 is a high-performance MM/MC phono preamplifier praised for its quiet operation, flexible adjustments, and balanced sound. It features single-ended RCA inputs and both RCA and balanced XLR outputs. Reviews highlight its low noise, tight bass, rich midrange, and excellent build quality, making it a bargain at its original MSRP. It supports user-configurable gain (40, 54, 60, 66dB), resistive loading (10, 100, 470, 1k, 47kΩ), capacitive loading (0, 100, 470pF), and RIAA/IEC curves via internal jumpers. Optional PSX5.3 external power supply enhances dynamics and noise performance (92dB SNR). The unit uses premium op-amps (Analog Devices OP97, Burr-Brown OPA227, INA163) on separated PCBs for power supply and audio circuits.
