About the RPM 6.1 SB
The Pro-Ject RPM 6.1 SB is designed for functional simplicity and high performance, featuring a heavy 4.3kg MDF platter covered with a vinyl mat, an acrylic sub-platter, and a ceramic main bearing for resonance-free playback. It uses a quiet AC motor with a two-step pulley driving the platter via a flat-ground belt. The motor is decoupled by a 4-point suspension to reduce vibration transmission. The plinth is made of medium density fibre and stands on three height-adjustable Sorbothane-damped aluminum cones for isolation. It includes an integrated Speed Box for electronic switching between 33 and 45 RPM, with 78 RPM selectable manually. The tonearm is a Pro-Ject 9c carbon-fiber armtube with inverted bearings on sapphire cushions, adjustable counterweight for cartridges between 6-10g, and adjustable height and azimuth. The turntable has gold-plated phono output sockets and an earth connection, powered by an external 16V/500mA AC power supply. Dimensions are 385 x 170 x 330 mm, and it weighs 8 kg. It is fully manual and comes with a new Audio Technica AT-VM95E cartridge and stylus in some packages. The design emphasizes low resonance, precise speed control, and ease of use for audiophiles.
