About the PL-400
The Pioneer PL-400 is a fully automatic, quartz-controlled direct-drive turntable introduced in the late 1970s. It uses a quartz PLL Hall motor and a 310 mm die-cast aluminum-alloy platter, with an S-shaped static-balance tonearm. Features include automatic operation, anti-skating adjustment, a cueing device, strobe light, and a direct-readout stylus-pressure counterweight. The PL-400 is distinct from the PL-400X variant.
