About the SZ-1T Ultimate
The Micro Seiki SZ-1T Ultimate is a flagship turntable model produced by Micro Seiki in the mid-1980s (circa 1983-1984). It is a belt-driven, high-mass, high-inertia turntable designed for ultimate audio performance. The SZ-1T features an air-floating platter and an air-bearing motor, with platter options in gunmetal or stainless steel, both equipped with vacuum hold down for record stabilization. The total inertia moment is approximately 26 t/cm², reflecting its massive and stable design. The turntable alone weighs about 60 kg, with the total system weight reaching up to 88 kg depending on the platter variant. It was considered a no-expense-spared statement piece with advanced engineering such as an 8-pole hysteresis synchronous motor and air isolation. The SZ-1T was complemented by a dedicated massive foundation called the BA-100 Audio Base with air bladder isolation feet for vibration control. Original pricing was very high, reflecting its premium status and build quality. This model is no longer manufactured and is regarded as a rare and highly collectible high-end turntable.
