About the 6100
The Marantz Model 6100 is a vintage belt-drive, semi-automatic turntable introduced in the late 1970s. It uses an AC synchronous motor with auto-return and automatic shutoff at the end of the record, and provides speed selection by switch for 33⅓ and 45 rpm rather than manual belt repositioning. The design features a walnut-finish plinth with metal trim, an S-shaped static-balance tonearm with anti-skating and cue lever for gentle stylus placement, and includes a dust cover. The 6100 is a standard phono-level deck with no built-in phono preamp, requiring connection to a phono input or external preamp. Known for quiet operation, stable speed, and a smooth, warm character, it remains favored among vintage vinyl enthusiasts.
