About the Axis Basik
The Linn Axis Basik is a manual belt-drive turntable that was introduced as a lower-cost, self-contained alternative to the flagship Linn Sondek LP12. It features a heavy Medite wood plinth laminated on both sides, a 12-inch (305mm) diecast aluminum platter with a felt mat, and a single-point oil-bath bearing system for smooth rotation. The turntable is equipped with a 24-pole precision synchronous motor, fully shielded and mechanically isolated from the main bearing assembly by a custom suspension system. Speed is electronically controlled for both 33.3 and 45 rpm, with an accuracy of ±0.1%. The original version came with the Linn Basik LVX+ tonearm, while later models were upgraded to the Akito mkI. The Axis Basik is known for its ease of use, reliability, and musical performance, making it a popular entry-level choice for vinyl enthusiasts.
