About the RD80SL
The Ariston RD80SL is a manually operated, belt-drive turntable with a synchronous AC motor and a three-point spring-suspended subchassis. The SL revision introduced electrical-insulation changes and a slightly concave, machined platter surface intended to improve record-to-mat contact when used with its screw-down record clamp. It also has a single-point bearing, a damped rubber mat, and provision for adjusting the motor pulley and belt alignment. Tonearm and cartridge configurations varied by package; the RD80SL was also sold as a motor unit without a tonearm.
