About the RD11
The Ariston RD11 is a manual, two-speed belt-drive turntable introduced in 1971. Its design uses a 24-pole AC synchronous motor, a two-piece platter weighing approximately 3.2 kg, and a single-point main bearing with a precision-ground shaft resting on a spherical ball bearing. The platter and tonearm are carried on a suspended subchassis for isolation from external vibration. The original RD11 is distinct from the later RD11S, which has a different armboard and other design details.
