About the Discovery
The original Wilson Benesch Discovery is a floorstanding loudspeaker introduced in the early 2000s, distinct from the later Discovery 3zero. Its 2.5-way design combines a front-facing 7-inch Tactic midrange/woofer with two 7-inch Tactic drivers in a downward-facing isobaric clamshell arrangement, plus a 1-inch silk-dome tweeter. The isobaric drivers cross over at 500 Hz; the front driver operates through the midrange and crosses to the tweeter at 5 kHz. The cabinet incorporates carbon-fibre side panels and an integrated stand. Published specifications give 88 dB sensitivity, 6-ohm nominal impedance (4 ohms minimum), and a frequency response of 42 Hz–25 kHz (±3 dB).
