The Whest PS.30RDT Special Edition is a premium phono preamplifier developed after three years of research and development. It features a fully discrete bipolar Class-A input stage related to the MC REF V MK4 discrete input stage, paired with a trimmed Class-A output stage from the same reference. This design eliminates the need for input transformers, allowing ultra low output cartridges to be handled with ease and preserving signal purity by amplifying the cartridge signal instantly. The unit incorporates ClarityCaps capacitors, updated RIAA filter capacitors, and a reworked power supply section, resulting in increased audio resolution, broadband signal power, soundstage, and realism. It delivers an ultra-low noise floor comparable to CD, a wide dynamic range surpassing many top CD players, and a highly focused, stable soundstage with precise instrument placement. The PS.30RDT Special Edition is regarded as a tour-de-force in the high-end phonostage market and has received critical acclaim for its performance and build quality.
