About the RS-1500
The Technics RS-1500 is a high-fidelity stereo open-reel tape deck featuring Technics’ isolated-loop tape path. A large 34 mm capstan and two pinch rollers isolate the heads from fluctuations in reel tension, while direct-drive reel motors and a quartz-controlled direct-drive capstan provide stable tape transport. It supports 2-track, 2-channel recording and playback, along with 4-track playback, and offers tape speeds of 3.75, 7.5, and 15 ips. The deck accommodates reels up to 10.5 inches and uses NAB equalization. Published specifications include 0.018% wow and flutter at 15 ips, a frequency response of 30 Hz–30 kHz at 15 ips, a 60 dB signal-to-noise ratio, 0.8% total harmonic distortion, 60 mV line and 0.25 mV microphone inputs, and a 0.775 V line output. Its dimensions are approximately 446 × 456 × 258 mm and its weight is approximately 25 kg.
