About the Olympica I

The Sonus Faber Olympica I is a stand-mounted two-way loudspeaker measuring 354 x 222 x 368 mm and weighing about 19 kg each. It features an elegant cabinet with asymmetrical sidewalls and a rear panel canted to one side to reduce internal resonances and increase stiffness. The speaker uses a unique 'Stealth UltraFlex' aperiodic vent design to minimize airflow turbulence. It has a 1.1-inch silk-dome tweeter with an aluminum ring, based on Sonus Faber's Damped Apex Dome (DAD) design, which improves phase coherence and off-axis performance. The mid/bass driver is a 150 mm doped cone with an eddy current-free voice coil. The crossover frequency is 2.5 kHz, employing high-quality Mundorf Evo oil capacitors and Jantzen inductors with a progressive slope design for natural, warm, and precise sound. The speaker has a sensitivity of 87 dB and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, recommended to be driven by an amplifier with at least 40 watts per channel. The cabinet is finished in natural walnut or graphite medium gloss. The Olympica I is praised for its refined sound signature, combining warmth and precision, though its small cabinet size limits bass extension compared to larger floorstanders. It comes with bi-wire binding posts and optional stands sold separately.
