About the 100D
The Moon 100D DAC by Simaudio is designed to deliver world-class audio performance in a compact and elegantly finished chassis. It uses the Burr Brown PCM1793 DAC chip with 8x oversampling digital filtering and an asynchronous sample rate converter that upconverts all inputs to 24-bit/192kHz. The device features a highly accurate digital clocking system to maintain extremely low jitter levels, three stages of DC voltage regulation in its power supply, and pure copper circuit board traces for low impedance and symmetrical circuit design. It supports digital inputs via USB (16-bit/48kHz max), optical TosLink, and coaxial S/PDIF (up to 24-bit/192kHz). The analog output is single-ended RCA with a 2V line output. The DAC is noted for its smooth, analog-like sound with impressive midrange detail and dynamic depth, making it suitable for all-day listening. It was introduced around 2011 with an The unit is designed to be powered on continuously for optimal performance and features a rigid chassis to minimize vibration effects.
