About the 7000
The Shelter 7000 MC phono cartridge, introduced around 2005 as part of Shelter's upper model line (alongside 9000 and 5000), features a completely redesigned anodized aluminum body with neodymium magnet, PC-OCC copper wiring, and a nude elliptical diamond stylus. It delivers enhanced dynamics, resolution, and quietness compared to predecessors like the 901, with a smooth, effortless sonic presentation praised for musical generosity, precise imaging, and freedom from colorations in high-resolution systems. Originally with an SRP of $2800, it appears to be no longer manufactured, as current Shelter lines focus on models like Harmony and Accord, and it's listed as discontinued in some retailers alongside the 5000 series.
