The Schiit Audio Urd is a current-production, made-in-USA digital CD transport and Unison USB hub. It contains no internal DAC or analog audio outputs; instead, it reads Red Book CDs and sends digital audio to an external DAC through Unison USB, AES, or coaxial S/PDIF. Its two switchable Unison USB inputs also allow it to function as a USB source switcher or USB-to-S/PDIF converter for compatible streamers, computers, and other UAC2 sources. The transport uses a StreamUnlimited metal tray-loading CD mechanism, four 32-bit microprocessors, and a fully linear dual-transformer power supply with separate drive and digital-section transformers. An aluminum remote control is included.
