About the MB1

The Scansonic MB-1 is a Danish-designed, high-performance two-way mini monitor speaker with dimensions of 178 x 312 x 286 mm and a weight of 6.1 kg. It features a sealed ribbon tweeter with a Kapton/aluminum sandwich membrane and a 4.5-inch carbon fiber coned bass/mid driver with an overhung magnet system. The enclosure is curved, heavily braced, and ventilated with a front-loaded reflex port that reduces noise and allows placement near rear walls. The crossover frequency is approximately 2.6 to 3.5 kHz with a minimum phase or 2nd order acoustic slope design, depending on the version. The speaker offers a frequency response from about 45-50 Hz up to 40 kHz, impedance greater than 6 or 8 ohms, and sensitivity around 86 dB. It is recommended to be paired with high-quality amplifiers above 50 watts. The MB-1 is praised for its lively, bright, and bold sound with surprising bass performance for its size, excellent resolution, imaging, and soundstaging, making it suitable for small to medium rooms. Available finishes include black silk, white silk, and walnut (in some versions). The speaker is handcrafted in Denmark with extensive internal bracing and carbon sheet reinforcement for cabinet rigidity and low coloration. Optional matching stands are available but sold separately. The MB-1 is considered a high-end design with a heritage linked to Raidho speaker technology and Danish loudspeaker craftsmanship.
