About the 34
The QUAD 34 is a solid-state stereo control preamplifier introduced in 1982. It has selectable inputs for disc, radio, tape and an auxiliary or CD source, depending on version, with push-button source selection. Its controls include a tilt adjustment, bass control and selectable high-frequency filters. The disc input uses a replaceable module to match moving-magnet or moving-coil cartridges. Early units used DIN connections; later versions used RCA connectors. The model was discontinued; sources differ on whether production ended in 1995 or 1996.
