About the AMP 5
The Proceed AMP 5, produced by Madrigal Audio Laboratories around 1998, is a high-end, THX-certified five-channel power amplifier designed for both home theater and high-fidelity music systems. It features robust construction with three large toroidal transformers, separate power supplies for each channel including dedicated secondary windings, rectifiers, and filter capacitor banks for front L/C/R and rear channels. Each channel employs ten 150W power transistors in the output stage and offers both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA inputs selectable via switches, with automatic gain adjustment. It includes six stages of protection, RJ-45 communication ports for Proceed system integration, and weighs nearly 60kg (110-132 lbs). Originally Highly praised for its power, stability, and musicality, capable of driving difficult speakers.
