About the Pre-Box S2
The Pre-Box S2 is a digital micro preamplifier designed for high-resolution audio playback. It features a dual mono configuration with two ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M 32-bit DACs, supporting PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512 via USB, and up to 24-bit/192kHz PCM via optical and coaxial inputs. It is the first Pro-Ject device to offer hardware MQA unfolding. The unit includes a proprietary Optimum transient digital filter and a custom clock design with ultra-low jitter (100 femtoseconds). Seven (or eight, depending on version) digital filters allow precise sound shaping. The Pre-Box S2 has a built-in headphone amplifier (6.3mm jack) and a variable RCA line output. It is fully remote controllable and can also control computer playback software. The device uses high-quality components such as organic polymer capacitors and thin-film miniMELF resistors, and is powered by an external 5V/1A DC supply.
