About the Phono Box SE
The Pro-Ject Phono Box SE is a dedicated MM/MC phono preamplifier designed for audiophile vinyl playback. It offers selectable input impedances for MC cartridges (100 ohms and 220 ohms) and a fixed 47k ohms for MM cartridges, with capacitance around 100pF. The unit features a subsonic filter at 18 Hz with 24 dB/octave slope to eliminate rumble and unwanted low-frequency noise. It employs dual-mono circuitry for optimal channel separation and uses special low-noise ICs to ensure a very low noise floor. The device is housed in a metal case that shields electronics from vibration and electromagnetic interference. It includes gold-plated RCA connectors and comes with an outboard power supply, with the option for DC operation via battery. The Phono Box SE delivers a gain of 36.5 dB for MM and 56.5 dB for MC cartridges, with a very low total harmonic distortion of 0.002%. The RIAA equalization curve accuracy is within 0.25 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Dimensions are approximately 130 x 79 x 120 mm, and it weighs about 700 g without the power supply.
