About the DV440
The Pioneer DV-440 is a single-disc DVD/CD player released around 2001, notable for its slim design at just 2-1/4 inches tall. It supports playback of DVDs (5" or 3", NTSC, Region 1 or All Region), Video CDs, Audio CDs, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 files recorded on CD-R, CD-RW, and CD-ROM discs using the ISO 9660 format. The player can recognize up to 250 folders and 250 tracks but does not support multi-session discs. It features a 10-bit/27MHz video D/A converter with Viterbi error correction for improved video quality. Audio is processed with a 24-bit Burr-Brown D/A converter providing a high signal-to-noise ratio of 118 dB. The unit includes composite video, S-Video, and component video outputs but lacks HDMI output. It offers picture adjustments including fine focus, contrast, sharpness, chroma level, and hue, with the ability to memorize up to three custom picture settings. The player comes with a wireless remote, stereo RCA patch cord, composite video cord, and a 6.5-foot AC power cord. It has a 1-year parts and labor warranty. The DV-440 does not support SACD or DVD-Audio playback and is not THX certified. It is designed for straightforward DVD and CD playback with some advanced video and audio features for its class.
