About the Chara

The Penaudio Chara is a three-way, floorstanding loudspeaker system with a reflex-loaded design and magnetic shielding. It includes a 20 mm ferrofluid textile dome tweeter, a custom 120 mm special treated midrange/bass unit with a 26 mm voice coil and copper phase plug, and a long-throw 176 mm treated paper cone woofer with a 39 mm voice coil. The crossover points are at 180 Hz and 5500 Hz with acoustical 3rd order slopes. It delivers a frequency response of 30 Hz to 25 kHz anechoic and 25 Hz to 20 kHz in-room, with a sensitivity of 87 dB/1m/2.83V and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. The recommended amplifier power is 30+ watts. Dimensions are 140 mm wide, 1000 mm high, and 285 mm deep, with a weight of 17 kg per pair. The internal wiring and inductors use 99.997% copper foil (alpha-core), polypropylene capacitors, and Goertz MI1 wiring. The Chara is designed for audiophiles seeking a detailed, natural sound with excellent phase integration and a wide soundstage.
