About the Onyx Mk5
The Origin Live Onyx Tonearm Mk5 is designed as an affordable performance benchmark that outperforms many tonearms in the £3,000 region. It features a single-piece arm tube made from high-grade aircraft alloy for stiffness and resonance reduction, superior low friction gimbal bearings for transparency and tonal balance, and high-grade copper Litz internal wiring cryogenically frozen to reduce conductor discontinuities. The arm includes an integral VTA adjuster, falling weight side bias for low friction and resonance, and a well-specified 1 meter external cable with nickel-plated RCA plugs. It delivers improved resolution, clarity, dynamics, and fluidity, providing a clear defined mid-range with excellent contrast and detail between instruments and vocals. The Onyx is compatible with budget to high-end turntables and comes with a 5-year warranty against faults not caused by abuse or modification.
