About the DC Motor

The Origin Live DC Motor Kit is a complete turntable motor and power supply upgrade designed as a drop-in replacement for existing AC motors on a wide range of decks, including Linn, Thorens, Pink Triangle and many others. It comprises a high-grade low-vibration DC motor with dedicated pulley, an external electronic speed control box providing 33 and 45 rpm, and a separate transformer power supply (wall-wart as standard, with optional upgraded transformer). The motor is supplied pre-wired on a laser-cut stainless steel mounting plate with a single-bolt fixing that allows easy fitting to most turntables and simple belt-tension adjustment by rotating the motor plate. The supplied pulley is designed for use with flat and round belts to provide high grip and reduced slippage and vibration. Speed is set and fine-tuned via internal multi-turn preset resistors in the control box, and a strobe card is included for accurate speed calibration. Thanks to the motor's very low vibration, it can be mounted directly to the plinth or sub-chassis without additional rubber-band decoupling, with no significant noise breakthrough. Kits come complete with motor, pulley, mounting plate and lead, external control box, transformer power supply, all leads and plug connectors, strobe card and instructions, and require no soldering. Multiple kit levels (Standard, Advanced, Ultra) and optional upgraded motors and transformers are available, all sharing the same core DC motor upgrade concept and compatibility with many suspended and non-suspended turntables.
