About the DV-970HD
The OPPO Digital DV-970HD is a budget-friendly universal disc player that delivers exceptional performance for its price point. Introduced in 2007, it upconverts standard DVD video to high-definition signals (720p/1080i) via HDMI, producing clearer and crisper video on HDTVs and projectors. The player supports multiple disc formats including DVD, DVD-Audio, SACD (via PCM conversion), CD, HDCD, DivX, and Xvid. It features a sleek, compact design with an integrated 4-in-1 flash memory card reader and USB port for viewing digital photos and videos on your television. The DV-970HD includes both analog and digital audio outputs with Dolby Digital and Pro Logic II surround sound decoding. A high-quality HDMI cable with gold-plated connectors is included. The player is notable for offering universal disc playback capabilities at an exceptionally low price, though it lacks the advanced Faroudja DCDi video processing found in higher-end models. OPPO Digital ceased manufacturing in 2018 but continues to provide firmware updates and warranty support for existing products.
