About the 04HD
The Olive 04HD is a self-contained music server designed for audiophiles, combining CD ripping, storage, and playback in one unit. It features a built-in 2TB hard drive for storing ripped CDs and supports playback of files stored on other networked devices with compatible software. The device uses a proprietary DAC centered on a Burr-Brown 1792A chipset, supporting 24-bit/192kHz audio playback. It offers both digital and analog outputs, including coaxial and optical digital inputs and outputs, and a USB port for backup purposes. The 04HD has a fan-less cooling design for silent operation and a brushed aluminum chassis available in black or silver. The front panel includes a touchscreen for browsing music by artist, album, or genre, and hardwired buttons for navigation. It supports multi-room expansion and internet radio streaming. The sound is described as neutral and highly detailed, with excellent clarity and dynamics. However, it is relatively expensive and has limited placement options due to its design and heat dissipation requirements.
