About the NAC-42.5
The NAC-42.5 is part of Naim's earlier preamplifier lineup, known for its robust build and sound quality. It features three switch-selectable inputs for phono, tuner, and tape, with the option to use the tuner or tape input for compact disc playback. The phono stage is specifically designed for MM cartridges, and it does not support Moving Coil (MC) cartridges without additional modifications. The NAC-42.5 does not function as a headphone amplifier and requires a separate power amplifier to drive speakers. It was later succeeded by the NAC-62, which added an extra input and improved input switching for better performance consistency.
