About the 1000
The NAD 1000 is a stereo preamplifier from NAD’s Monitor Series, produced from approximately 1988 to 1995. It provides phono inputs for MM and MC cartridges, line-level inputs for sources such as CD, tuner and video, tape connections, and two preamplifier outputs. Its controls include bass, treble, balance and volume, with a tone-defeat function that bypasses the tone-control circuitry. Published specifications include 0.01% THD for line-level operation, 96 dB signal-to-noise ratio for line inputs, and a maximum preamp output above 12 V.
