About the X-RAY
The Musical Fidelity X-RAY is a 24-bit CD player introduced around 1998, featuring a Philips disc mechanism and a 24-bit Delta-Sigma DAC with 8x oversampling. It employs advanced jitter reduction techniques and a highly stable CMOS oscillator master clock to achieve exceptionally low jitter, resulting in improved sound quality and consistent playback. The player includes a sophisticated linear phase 5-pole analogue filter after the DAC to remove digital artifacts and aliasing noise, enhancing sonic performance. It offers both optical (Toslink) and coaxial digital outputs, as well as analog RCA outputs. The X-RAY supports a frequency response of 10Hz to 20kHz, a signal-to-noise ratio of 105dB, and total harmonic distortion below 0.006%. It comes with a remote control and is designed with a compact, vibration-damped enclosure to minimize errors and improve sound clarity.
