About the Paradisea
The MHDT Laboratory Paradisea is a non-oversampling, no digital filter DAC that uses four Philips TDA1545A 16-bit DAC chips. It features a tube output buffer stage with a GE5670 vacuum tube paired with an LM4562 operational amplifier, providing a warm, natural sound signature. The tube acts as a buffer rather than a true gain stage, preserving dynamics and timbre. The chassis is made from smoked transparent acrylic with metal sides, and the unit supports USB, coaxial, and optical digital inputs. The USB input supports 16-24 bit signals up to 192kHz. The Paradisea is appreciated for its musicality over technical accuracy, with a sound that some find more natural and dynamic compared to solid-state designs. It originally The design philosophy emphasizes simplicity and minimal components to achieve a realistic and natural sound. The DAC is user-upgradeable, allowing tube rolling with compatible tubes such as 2C51, Western Electric 396A, 6N3Pi, or 6CC42. The Paradisea is considered an economic version of the Philips TDA1541A DAC and is part of MHDT's non-oversampling DAC family.
