About the MCT450
The McIntosh MCT450 is a high-end SACD/CD transport designed for use with external digital-to-analog converters or McIntosh components with digital inputs. It supports stereo playback of SACDs, hybrid SACDs, audio CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and MP3/WMA-encoded CDs. The transport uses a twin-laser optical pickup with two laser elements of different wavelengths sharing a single lens assembly to optimally read both CD and SACD formats, and reads discs at 2x speed to improve data retrieval and error correction. A robust, premium die-cast aluminum disc tray and a classic McIntosh aesthetic with black glass front panel, fiber-optic illumination, polished stainless steel chassis, and aluminum end caps ensure both durability and visual match with other McIntosh components. Digital outputs include optical (Toslink), coaxial (RCA), balanced AES/EBU (XLR), and a proprietary MCT/DIN output that passes both PCM (CD) and DSD (SACD) to compatible McIntosh models for full-resolution SACD playback. The MCT450 employs a linear power supply with an R-Core transformer and multiple regulation stages for stable, low-noise operation, and provides McIntosh power control and data ports for system integration. It is supplied with an IR remote control and detachable power cord. Dimensions are approximately 17.5" (445 mm) W x 6" (153 mm) H x 19" (483 mm) D, with a weight of about 26 lb (11.8 kg).
