About the MC75
The McIntosh MC75 is a classic mono tube power amplifier known for its 75 watts output into 2, 4, or 8 ohm loads with less than 0.5% total harmonic distortion. It uses McIntosh's patented Unity Coupled Circuitry, which provides low distortion, extended frequency response, and cooler operating output tubes. The amplifier features a multifilar wound output transformer that ensures close primary to secondary coupling for flat frequency response and wide power bandwidth. It includes balanced and unbalanced inputs, gold plated connectors and tube socket contacts, and Sentry Monitor Tube Protection circuits for long and trouble-free operation. The chassis is polished stainless steel with a super mirror finish, and the amplifier weighs 38 lbs (17.24 kg). It has a frequency response of +0, -0.5 dB from 20Hz to 20kHz and +0, -3.0 dB from 10Hz to 100kHz, a damping factor greater than 18, and a signal-to-noise ratio of 110 dB below rated output. The MC75 is regarded as a cool-running tube amplifier with excellent soundstage depth and power delivery, suitable for a wide range of speakers. It was reintroduced as a modern reissue maintaining the classic design and performance standards.
