About the 2240
The Marantz 2240 is a vintage solid-state stereo receiver produced in the mid-1970s. It delivers 40 watts per channel into 8-ohm speakers, with a rated frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz and total harmonic distortion of 0.3%. The receiver combines an FM/AM tuner with inputs for phono and line-level sources, tape-monitor connections, and a headphone output. It includes independent bass, midrange, and treble controls, loudness, and preamplifier/main-amplifier separation. The 2240 measures approximately 440 × 137 × 365 mm (17-3/8 × 5-3/8 × 14-3/8 inches) and weighs about 14 kg (30.8 lb). Its silver-faced Marantz styling and blue-lit tuning dial are characteristic of the period; some examples were paired with an optional wooden cabinet. As a vintage model, it is no longer manufactured, and condition and restoration status vary substantially among surviving units.
