About the TK-850L

The Jelco TK-850L is a static balance tonearm with a vertical knife-edge bearing system made from high-quality super steel for stable and smooth operation with very low friction. It has an effective length of 303 mm from the tonearm pivot to the stylus point, a pivot to spindle distance of 290 mm, and an overhang of 13 mm. The offset angle is 17.7 degrees, allowing for Baerwald alignment as per IEC recommendations. The tonearm supports cartridge weights from 17 to 35 grams including the headshell, with an effective mass of 13.0 grams. It features adjustable azimuth on the headshell and height adjustment range from 38 to 60 mm. The internal wiring uses thick silver-plated PCUHD copper wires with rhodium-plated connectors, and the headshell wiring is silk-weaved OFC litz lead wires. The tonearm is designed with anti-vibration materials and a hi-mass system to reduce unwanted resonance. It is compatible with standard detachable headshells and includes anti-skating. The TK-850L is no longer in production but remains highly regarded for its sound quality and build.
