About the 1400 Array
The JBL 1400 Array is the flagship model in the Project Array lineup, engineered to deliver extraordinary fidelity and sonic realism for demanding audiophiles. It features a three-way design with a 14-inch Aquaplas-treated pulp-cone woofer with a 4-inch copper edge-wound voice coil, a 3-inch aluminum-dome midrange compression driver (435AL-1) treated with Aquaplas damping, and a 1-inch pure titanium ultrahigh-frequency compression driver (045Ti). The enclosure is ported and trapezoidal, finished in black high-gloss woodgrain. The speaker employs a 4th-order crossover network with low-loss air-core inductors and audiophile-grade polypropylene capacitors, with separate networks for each driver to minimize interaction and preserve audio purity. It delivers a frequency response from 32Hz to 40kHz, sensitivity of 89dB (2.83V @ 1m), nominal impedance of 8 ohms, and power handling of 300 watts. Dimensions are approximately 1181mm (H) x 394mm (W) x 483mm (D) (46.5" x 15.5" x 19") and weight is about 52 kg (115 lbs). The 1400 Array is designed to excel with high-resolution sources such as DVD-Audio and SACD, providing clean, dimensional sound with extended high-frequency response and dynamic realism.
