About the F9E
The Grace F-9E (often written F9E or F-9E Extended Range 4) is a high-output moving magnet (MM) stereo phono cartridge noted for its musical, highly detailed sound and excellent channel separation. It is part of the Grace F-9 series and uses an extremely small rare-earth cobalt magnet together with a very light, rigid low-mass alloy cantilever to achieve fast transient response and low effective moving mass. The F-9E is specified with a flat playback frequency range from 10 Hz to 45 kHz, meeting the extended-bandwidth requirements for CD-4 and other quadraphonic records, and is built to JIS, EIA and IEC standards. It employs Grace's one-point stylus support and matrical-flux magnetic circuit design to optimize tracking, channel balance and reduce crosstalk, and accepts interchangeable F-9 series styli so users can tailor performance. The stylus supplied with this model is Type E, an elliptical tip, and the original replacement stylus designation for this cartridge is RS-9E. Typical specifications from reputable retailers list an output of about 3.5 mV (5 cm/s, 1 kHz), cartridge mass around 6 g, and a recommended tracking force of 1.2 g within a usable range of 0.5-2 g, making it compatible with a wide variety of medium-mass tonearms.
