About the Dynastation MK5
The Dynavox Dynastation MK5 is a tube CD player built around a repurposed Sony PlayStation CD transport, fitted into a custom hi-fi chassis with a valve output stage running 6L6 tubes — an unusual choice that gives the player its characteristically warm, tube-flavoured sound. The design is purist and minimalist: a single RCA (cinch) line output, no inputs and no remote control. It reads pressed CDs as well as CD-R and CD-RW media and offers basic title programming, while omitting pitch control, shuffle, repeat and CD-Text. The MK5 is a later revision of the Dynastation line from the German brand Dynavox (Sintron Distribution); it is no longer manufactured and is available only on the second-hand market.
