About the MV125

The Conrad Johnson MV125 is a vacuum tube power amplifier that succeeded the MV100 model. It was designed for audiophiles requiring higher power output or using less efficient speaker systems. The MV125 delivers 125 watts per channel RMS into 8 ohms with both channels driven, using two pairs of 6550 or KT88 output tubes per channel. It introduced Conrad Johnson's trans-spectral output transformer design, featuring intricately interleaved windings that provide theoretically unlimited bandwidth and significantly increased small signal bandwidth. The amplifier uses polypropylene capacitors for the main power supply reservoir, a feature later adopted in other models like the Premier Eight, Eleven, and Twelve. The MV125 is known for its smooth, musical sound and wide, deep soundstage, making it highly regarded among tube amplifiers. It is considered a stereo version of the Premier 12 amplifier.
