About the 1543
The original CAD 1543 DAC is a UK-built, asynchronous USB digital-to-analogue converter using sixteen Philips TDA1543/N2 chips in a non-oversampling, filterless resistor-ladder design. It has one galvanically isolated USB input and a pair of unbalanced RCA outputs made with low-mass tellurium-copper connectors. Its 10 mm laser-cut acrylic enclosure has a matte-black finish. This is the original 1543 DAC, not the later 1543 MKII or MKIII models.
