About the X40

The Cocktail Audio X40 is an all-in-one HiFi component combining a smart HD music server, network streamer, CD ripper, and high-quality DAC. It supports native playback of DSD64, DSD128, DXD (24bit/352.8kHz), and PCM up to 32bit/384kHz including 24bit/192kHz WAV and FLAC files. Equipped with the ESS Sabre ES9018K2M DAC and an XMOS 32bit/500MIPS digital signal processor, it delivers exceptional sound quality with 127dB dynamic range and -120dB THD+N. The unit features balanced AES/EBU XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs, a 6.35mm headphone jack, phono MM input for turntables, FM tuner, and supports internal 2.5" or 3.5" SATA hard drives up to 4TB for music storage. It offers HDMI output for external display, USB host ports, digital inputs and outputs (Toslink, coaxial, AES/EBU), and a 5" color LCD for user interface. The X40 supports music streaming services like Qobuz and Simfy, UPnP media server and renderer functionality, and remote control via mobile apps or web interface. Its power supply uses a toroidal transformer to minimize noise, and the chassis is CNC-machined aluminum for durability and aesthetics. The device also supports gapless playback, playlist creation, music tag editing, and scheduled auto shutdown.
