About the Azur 640A V2
The Cambridge Audio Azur 640A V2, introduced in 2005, is an integrated amplifier delivering 75 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 100 watts into 4 ohms. It features an oversized toroidal transformer, short path circuitry, and intelligent protection systems (CAP5). The V2 version improved input, correction, and output stages, including a rare 'different input - cascode buffer' scheme for faster signal rise at the output. It has enhanced volume, tone, and balance controls for better feel and channel matching, and is Incognito Ready for multi-room system integration. The amplifier supports two pairs of speakers, four sources, and two recorders, with pre-out and recording outputs. It offers bass and treble tone controls (+/-10dB), a frequency response of 5Hz to 50kHz ±1dB, total harmonic distortion as low as 0.008% at 1kHz, and a signal-to-noise ratio above 92dB. The design includes a robust aluminum front panel, available in black or silver, and comes with a remote control. The sound character is noted for a softened bass attack, brilliant mid-high frequency detail, and a spacious acoustic atmosphere. Dimensions are 430 x 320 x 100 mm, weighing 7 kg. The Azur 640A V2 is regarded as a high-value amplifier with a clean, detailed, and dynamic sound signature, suitable for a variety of speaker pairings and multi-room setups.
