About the 259
The Burmester Audio 259 is a current Reference Line stereo power amplifier, also configurable for mono operation. It is a fully balanced, high-power design with passive cooling, a reactive power supply, twelve output-transistor pairs per channel, and active output-stage protection. Burmester specifies extremely low distortion, very high damping factor, broad power bandwidth, and substantial continuous and impulse power for demanding loudspeakers. Available information indicates that the 259 was introduced as part of Burmester’s renewed Reference Line and is not discontinued.
